The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland has awarded local television company City Channel a licence for a new service in County Clare.This is subject to final contract negotiations. Channel South will start broadcasting in November and will be available to homes in Cork city and county, Limerick city and county and parts of Kerry, Waterford, Clare and south Tipperary.
The company says the channel will operate 24 hours a day and will have a range of locally-focused programming, including hourly regional news, weather and sport.
