A funeral with full military honours will be held for a County Clare soldier who died in Kilkenny on Friday.
Live 95FM reports that Private Alan Boyce, 21, from Meelick whose parents are from Kileely in Limerick was well known in sporting circles as both a soccer player and a promising GAA enthusiast. Mr Boyce`s body was discovered in the River Breaghagh in Kilkenny on Friday after he had spent a night out with friends.
Minister for Defence Willie O`Dea and the Defence Forces Chief of Staff, Lt General Dermot Early have both offered their condolences to the family. The removal will take place this evening.
