Blackouts across Clare

Some Clare homes are still without electricity this morning following high winds across the county overnight.

The majority of the damaged power lines are in the parish of Kilmaley. The area between Connolly and Kilmaley villages are worst affected. Homes in the Scariff area have also been hit by blackouts.

Gusts of 135km/h were recorded at the height of the storm. Repair crews will be working throughout the morning in an effort to reconnect all customers. Meanwhile, motorists are being urged to drive with extra caution today as a severe weather warning remains in place across the country.

Fallen trees have been reported on many roads around Clare.
