A week-long festival celebrating the television sitcom Father Ted begins today in North Clare and Inis Mor.Priests at TedFest ITedFest II marks the 10th anniversary of the filming of the final episode of the cult show, which revolves around the mishaps of three Catholic priests on the fictional Craggy Island. The Lovely Girls contest, Craggy World Cup, Song for Europe, the Golden Cleric awards and Buckaroo speed dating are among the extended event's highlights.
Sky News reports that the festival, now in its second year, has been inundidated with ticket demands, forcing its expansion onto the mainland. Many of the events have been moved from Inis Mor, which can only hold about 200 visitors, to Kilfenora on the mainland. A large crowd of non-ticket holders is expected, tempted by the opportunity to climb inside the World's Biggest Cup of Tea.
