The North Clare-based BurrenLIFE project has just announced a major international conference to take place in Ennistymon from February 24th – 27th 2008.Titled ‘Farming for conservation – supporting the future’, the event will include speakers from a number of European countries, and, in particular, from other limestone regions such as the Alvars of Sweden, The Causse in France and the Yorkshire Dales in the UK. Minister for Environment, Heritage and local Government John Gormley TD and new Teagasc Director Prof. Gerry Boyle will be among those to address what promises to be an event of some significance to the future of the Burren, its farming traditions and rich heritage.
