Clare await results of defender's ankle scan

Clare hurling boss Mike McNamara (left) will learn later today if defender Conor Cooney has any chance of lining out in the All-Ireland qualifier clash against Galway at Ennis on July 11.

Cooney went for a scan yesterday on his injured ankle and the results are expected to be known sometime this evening, reports the Irish Independent. The O'Callaghan's Mills clubman did the damage in a club match against Tulla three weeks ago and missed Sunday's Munster semi-final loss to Tipperary.
