Limerick Regional slips in HSE league table

Dublin's Tallaght Hospital and Limerick Regional Hospital have slipped into the bottom three of the HSE's league table of worst-performing hospitals in the country, according to irishhealth.com.

Limerick Regional Hospital has an overall average waiting time of around 18 months for an outpatient appointment in any specialty, while the waiting time for an outpatient appointment in Tallaght is around 250 days on average across all specialties, the statistics show. The HSE's newly-published HealthStat figures, for the month of March, show that there are three hospitals given a "red light" by HSE assessors, meaning their performance is unsatisfactory and requires urgent attention.

Mayo General Hospital remains in the red light category, where it has been since January, the first month for which HealthStat figures were compiled.

Racing fixture at Tipperary is cancelled

Tipperary officials have abandoned Thursday's two chase races - and will stage a second inspection at 3pm to assess the prospects for the rest of the card.

Heavy overnight rain has already put paid to the action over fences, with another check required this afternoon, according to breakingnews.ie. The hurdle course is currently raceable, with the ground described as soft.
