Extra Gardai called in following weekend grenade attack

Extra Garda resources are being called for, in the Cloughleigh Estate in Ennis following the discovery of a hand grenade at a local house over the weekend.
GardaĆ­ called in the Army Bomb disposal unit to dispose of the viable device, which was thrown into the home of local man Christopher McDonagh while he and his wife, and six children were sleeping upstairs, reports Clare FM Radio.

Neighbouring houses were evacuated and local residents have expressed fear and frustration at the ongoing feud in the area that is thought to be drug related, and has stepped up in recent months.

Toolin Travel customers will not be stranded abroad says Regulator

Aviation regulator Cathal Guiomard has guaranteed customers of Toolin Travel, which collapsed at the weekend, they will not be stranded abroad.

The travel agency, which had eight branches in Dublin and Kildare, ceased trading on Friday, reports businessworld.ie. However, hundreds of other holidaymakers who booked with Toolin Travel could be affected by the closure.

The Commission for Aviation Regulation says customers should check its website http://www.aviationreg.ie/.

Glass firm raises funds from bonds

Ardagh Glass, the Dublin-based glass manufacturer led by Paul Coulson that lost E46m last year is to raise E300m from the sale of bonds due in 2016 to restructure the company's debts.

Ardagh Glass is the third biggest glass container manufacturer in Europe, with 18pc of the market but swung in to the red last year after it took on a E37m restructuring charge related to the major redundancy package it offered workers as part of major cost cutting.
