Petrol bomb attack on NI school

Police in Northern Ireland are investigating a petrol bomb attack on a Catholic school in north Belfast this morning.

St Patrick's College on the Antrim Road suffered extensive damage in the attack at 6am.

A number of classrooms and corridors were damaged.

Fears for Lufthansa Technik jobs

Fears are growing for the future of 465 jobs at the Lufthansa Technik Airmotive plant in Rathcoole, County Dublin.

Management have issued a notice to staff warning that unless an agreement on new work practices and overtime arrangements is fully operated by staff, they will be put on protective notice from Monday.

Lenihan welcomes drilling activity in Slyne Basin

Conor Lenihan T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources today commented on the announcement by Serica Energy plc relating to its drilling operations in the Slyne Basin.

Minister Lenihan said that he was encouraged to see that a new exploration play has been identified west of Ireland with the discovery of oil for the first time in the Slyne Basin and noted the licensee’s intention to actively progress its exploration programme in search of both oil and gas within its licence area.

“This is encouraging and will hopefully lead to further commercial activity within the licensed area involved” Minister Lenihan added.
