Injury worries for Waterford and Limerick hurlers

Both Limerick and Limerick have serious injury worries ahead of Sunday's Munster SHC semi-final at Semple Stadium.

John Mullane hasn't trained for almost a fortnight since picking up a hamstring problem, and along with Richie Foley (hamstring), Gary Hurney (knee) and Shane Walsh (shoulder), are doubtful starters for Davy Fitzgerald's side, reports RTE Sport.

Limerick will be monitoring the progress of Seamus Hickey (left) who has only been doing very light training because of a shoulder injury, while centre-forward Mike O'Brien is expected to miss the game because of two broken bones in his hand. Full-forward David Breen and wing-back Gavin O'Brien are also carrying injuries, though Treaty manager Justin McCarthy will be boosted by the news the dual stars Stephen Lucey and Mark O'Riordan will be available for selection.

Cyclist recovers from hit and run incident

A cyclist was knocked over by a hit-and-run driver during a race in Northern Ireland.

The biker sustained leg injuries when he was struck by a white van on a road outside Omagh last night. He was taking part in an event organised by a local cycling club at the time, according to breakingnews.ie.

Police are now hunting for the van driver, who did not stay at the scene. The incident took place on the Gortin Road near Molly Sweeney’s bar (pictured left) at around 7pm.
