Fears grow for Tralee jobs

Fears are growing for the future of 200 workers at a car component factory.

Employees at Beru Electronics, one of Tralee's biggest manufacturing plants, were yesterday called into a meeting with management to discuss the company's future, reports the Irish Indepndent.

However, the 200 employees were told that further circumstances had to be clarified with management in Germany before plans for the future of the plant could be fully laid out.

Antrim hurling bosses may step down

Sambo McNaughton and Dominic McKinley may not be in charge of Antrim hurlers during the county's involvement in next season's Leinster Championship.

The BBC reports that McNaughton hinted after Sunday's 2-16 to 0-12 defeat by Dublin at Croke Park that the management duo could step down after this summer's championship.

Antrim play in the Ulster Final on 28 June before being involved in All-Ireland qualifiers.

Jump in Live Register figures in North West

The Live Register figures across Sligo and Leitrim now stands at over 8,000.

According to Ocean FM, the total Live Register figures for Leitrim is now 3,394 while in Sligo, it stands at 4,964. The number of those signing on in Carrick-On-Shannon has increased 102 per cent on this time last year, while in Manorhamilton there’s been a jump of 100 per cent, with the number now standing at 853.

In Sligo there’s been a 96 per cent increase in the dole queue in Sligo Town and a 75 per cent increase in Tubbercurry. The figures there now stands at 4,050 and 914 respectively.
