A memorial mass has been held in Roscrea this evening for Dr Aisling Butler (left), one of the Irish passengers on the Air france jet that crashed last week.The 26-year-old was a native of Ballinakill in Roscrea, RTE News reports. Ms Butler and her two friends, Jane Deasy from Dublin and Eithne Walls from Down, were all passengers on the plane which disappeared while travelling from Rio De Janeiro to Paris.
Dermot Earley (left) and Eoin Cadogan have been named as the GPA Players of the Month for May.
Earley played a pivotal role in the Kildare footballers' Leinster Championship win over Offaly in Portlaoise.
Cadogan, meanwhile, delivered a man-of-the-match display for the Cork hurlers despite their defeat to Tipperary in the Munster Championship.
An Irishman has climbed the Arctic’s highest mountain in aid of a health support charity.
Myles Campion (42), Delgany, Co Wicklow, has recorded the first Irish ascent of the 3,693m peak Gunnbjornsfjeld in Greenland. According to the Irish Times, the mountain is also the highest in Greenland and was discovered in 1930. It was first climbed in 1935.
Mr Campion set out on his ascent late last month with Scottish climber Bill Roberts and Greg Slingerland from South Africa.
