Worker dies following Lahinch workplace incident

A Galway man died in hospital yesterday after being injured in an incident while working in North Clare.

The 26-year-old electrician from Peterswell, Gort in Co Galway was working at a site in Lahinch when he fell from a step ladder on Wednesday evening, reports journalist Pat Flynn in The Irish Times.

The man sustained a serious head injury and died in hospital yesterday afternoon .

Surfer injured near Kilkee

A major rescue operation was undertaken yesterday for a man in his 20s who sustained leg and ankle injuries in a surfing accident near Kilkee.

The Irish Times reports that the man had been surfing with two others at Murragh reef between Kilkee and Donegal Point on the west coast of Clare.

Kilkee Marine Rescue Service dispatched one boat to the scene and quickly recovered the injured man from the water. The Shannon-based Coast Guard helicopter airlifted him from the boat
