Millionaire candidate slams An Taisce

A local election candidate in Clare has described An Taisce as "enemies of society", following their calls for less use of Shannon Airport.

Independent Ennis East Candidate JJ McCabe has launched a scathing attack on the environmental organisation and Heritage officer Ian Lumley who said reduced use of Shannon was vital to halt climate change, Clare FM reports.

McCabe, a 72 year old farmer from Clarecastle, has contested four previous elections without success and is best known for a major land deal in 2005 in which he was paid 18.8 million euro for a 20 acre site close to the route of the Ennis by-pass.
