Gardai and the emergency services are being praised for locating an elderly American tourist who went missing in the Newmarket on Fergus area on Sunday night, Clare FM News reports.
The man who is in his seventies and has insulin-regulation problems was found in a field at around 1 o clock yesterday afternoon after spending over 15 hours exposed to the elements. The alarm was raised by the owner of the B&B where he was staying at around half nine on Sunday night after he failed to return from a trip to the nearby pub.
The elderly tourist was located in a field in the area at around 1 pm and paramedics treated him at the scene before he was flown to Limerick Regional Hospital where his condition is described as comfortable.
