71 jobs to go at Shannon

Agilisys Contact Services is to close its call centre in Shannon and will transfer its operations to the UK.

The company has been based in Shannon for the last four years and employed 71 permanent staff.

In a statement, the company said it had informed the staff of its intention and hoped that some of them will relocate to its UK centres,a ccording to RTE and The Clare Champion newspaper.

Plane diverted to Shannon

A plane has been forced to divert to Shannon Airport after the captain became ill, RTE News reports.

The plane was on route to JFK from Milan with 168 passengers.

A spokesman for Alitalia said that the plane was forced to divert to Shannon after the Captain had suffered an illness.
