20 New Jobs For County Clare

A personal health and fitness company today announced 20 new jobs for Ennis.

Ozone Health & Fitness Ltd. has confirmed the new jobs will be created over the next six weeks at the newly opened Ozone Centre in the Quin Road Business Park. The Centre contains Clare’s largest gym, seven purpose-built health suites and a multipurpose conference suite.

According to Centre Director Ken O’Malley, “We are delighted to announce the creation of 20 new jobs at this newly opened centre of excellence for fitness and health. The health suites have just been completed and will undoubtedly help us establish Ozone as a leading centre for fitness, rehabilitation and health care provision in the Mid West Region.”

Mr. O’Malley noted that the private enterprise sector was showing the way forward regarding the development of health and fitness centres. He explained, “Throughout the country we are seeing a huge demand for such services, which have previously been unavailable in the local community and at a reasonable cost. The credit collapse and the deepening recession have left many people feeling the pinch. However, the interest generated by the new centre shows that people are looking to keep fit and active ahead of the inevitable upturn in the economy.”

Among the health services and treatments to be provided at the new centre are Physiotherapy, Optometry, Colon Hydrotherapy, Dental Hygiene, Massage Therapy, and Dietetic and Weight Loss. Plans are also in place to establish a laser eye treatment clinic. Presently, people on the West of Ireland must travel to Cork, Waterford, Dublin or Belfast to undergo such treatment.

The fully air conditioned 5000 sq ft. gym, meanwhile, comprises an Aerozone aerobic hall, sprung floor and state-of-the-art fitness equipment. The facility is managed at all times by fully qualified fitness instructors while it also hosts a large selection of aerobic classes.

Clare County Council Extends The Range Of Services At Recycling Centres

Clare County Council has announced the provision of a green waste recycling facility at its recycling centres in Shannon and Lisdeen.

The new facility will enable householders in the greater Shannon and West Clare areas to dispose of green waste at their local recycling centres. The service is already available at recycling centres in Ennis and Inagh. Material collected at all centres is brought to the composting plant at the Council’s Central Waste Management Facility in Ballyduffbeg, near Inagh.

Mayor of Clare, Councillor Madeleine Taylor-Quinn welcomed the further extension of facilities at County Clare’s recycling centres. She said, “The Regional Waste Management Plan for Limerick, Clare and Kerry has set ambitious objectives for waste prevention, reuse and recycling. To date, a recycling rate of 35% had been achieved in Clare, which is well above the national average. Householders can continue to improve the recycling rate by composting organic food waste, using reusable shopping bags and continuing to use the Council’s Recycling Centres”.

Robert Burns, Senior Executive Engineer in the Council’s Environment Section noted that there was a wide range of material that could now be recycled at the centres. “All Electrical Items (WEEE), Textiles, Batteries and Fluorescent Light Bulbs are accepted free of charge with a nominal charge for other items. Home Composters can also be purchased at all centres. The Council has reduced the charge to €40 which includes a 330 litre composter, base and kitchen caddy”, commented Mr. Burns. He added, “Organic Waste, such as food scraps can be easily composted and can represent up to 50% of total household waste. Composting of organic waste will help to reduce domestic waste bills as well as diverting waste away from landfill.”

The Council operates 5 Civic Amenity Sites throughout the county at Lisdeen, Kilkee; next to Smithstown Industrial Estate, Shannon; Fossabeg, Scariff; Gort Road Industrial Estate, Ennis; and Ballyduff Beg, Inagh.
