Clare Coastline Could Form Part Of COS Saving Wind Initiative

An investment in 1000MW of offshore wind could save the Irish Economy in excess of E2bn in fuel bills over a 15 year period and in excess of E537m in Co2 Savings.

It could also cut Ireland's annual emissions by the same amount as would be emitted by 170,000 cars, according to businessworld.ie. This is according to an independent study by INDECON economic consultants published today.

County Clare has been studied in the past as a possible location for off-shore wind turbines. Currently there are wind farms in place at locations including Moanmore, Lissycasey and Booltiagh.
