The body of an elderly man has been recovered from a lake in East Clare.

It is believed to be that of a 71-year-old man who was reported missing yesterday. The find was made in Lannaught close to Killanena after a day long search involving gardaí and locals. The body has been taken to the Mid West Hospital in Limerick for a post mortem examination.

The missing man had been living in the Lannaught area.

Search For Missing Whitegate Man To Resume Tomorrow

A major search for a missing Whitegate man has ended without a positive result.

The man, 24-year-old James Burke has been missing for two weeks now, and It is believed he may have fallen into the water in Killaloe after a night out with friends. He was last spotted near the Anchor Bar, by a bridge at around 10pm on December 9.

Water searches are expected to continue tomorrow.
